Double bassist Pierre-Emmanuel de Maistre joined the Concertgebouworkest in August 2013, and he was appointed 2nd principal double bass in 2015, where he held the position until 2024.<\/p>\n
Originally he studied cello at the conservatory in his native city of Toulon and at the conservatory in Rueil-Malmaison. Pierre-Emmanuel de Maistre went on to double bass with Jean-Pierre Resecco in Toulon and with Vincent Pasquier in Paris. He completed his studies at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen with Niek de Groot, former principal double bassist of the Concertgebouworkest.<\/p>\n
He was a member of the Seiji Ozawa International Chamber Music Academy in Switzerland and member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. He was appointed assistant principal double bassist of the Orchestre National de Lille in 2003, a position he held for nine years. He also worked as a substitute with various French orchestras, and with the Concertgebouworkest in 2012.<\/p>\n
He has participated in various chamber music festival, such festival Opera Barga and Festival International of chamber music in Th\u00e8ze.<\/p>\n
Pierre-Emmanuel de Maistre is professor double bass at the Musikene Superior Arts Center in San Sebasti\u00e1n (Spain).<\/p>\n
Pierre-Emmanuel plays a double bass from the collection of Foundation Concertgebouworkest, a Bergonzi family double bass, built in Cremona in 1760.<\/p>\n
