David Rebull

David Rebull (Amposta, 2004) is an internationally awarded cellist and a student of Gustav Rivinius at the Hochschule für Musik Saar (Germany), where he has been studying since 2022 thanks to the Ezequías Wardwell scholarship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

He has received prizes in competitions such as the David Popper International Cello Competition (third prize, Hungary, 2023), the Extraordinary Prize for Artistic Professional Training in Catalonia (2022), the Grand Prize Virtuoso Paris Online Competition (2020), the Jaime Dobato Benavente Competition (2019), and the Girona Musical Performance Award (2017), among others.

In 2025 he was selected for the prestigious Kalamata International Music Festival, where he worked with Jean-Guihen Queyras, and he has taken masterclasses with renowned cellists including Asier Polo, Timora Rosler, Johannes Moser, and Gustav Rivinius.

As a soloist, highlights include his performance of Cant dels Ocells during the centenary celebration of the Pau Casals Orchestra (Barcelona, 2021) and his appearance in the concert series of the University of Lleida (2022) together with pianist Seon-hee Myong.

He began studying the cello at the age of five with Naiade Martínez at La Lira Ampostina, and later trained with Iñaki Etxepare and Oriol Aymat. In 2024 he will perform Friedrich Gulda’s Cello Concerto for Wind Orchestra in the New Year’s Concert at the Chapel of L’Aldea. He has also taken part in prestigious chamber music festivals such as the Delta Chamber Music Festival, after winning the Young Talent competition in 2022.
