Awarded by the prestigious ARD Munich International Music Competition, María José is a member of the Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra, guest principal bassoonist of the Munich Chamber Orchestra in Germany, bassoon professor at the Higher School of Music of Catalonia (ESMUC) and at the Liceu Superior Conservatory of Barcelona. She is also invited as a teacher in many young orchestras and gives master classes at different festivals and conservatories throughout Spain.

She has collaborated with orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (BR), Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Bamberger Symphoniker, WDR Sinfoniorchester Köln, Orquestra Mozart or the Mahler Chamber Orchestra where she has worked with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Mariss Jansons , Herbert Blomstedt, Pavo Järvi, Gustavo Dudamel among others and has toured many of the best venues in the world such as the Musikverein, Berliner Philharmonie, Het Concertgebouw, BBC Proms, Herkulessaal, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées or Suntory Hall in Japan.

As a soloist she has played with many orchestras, Münchener Rundfunkorchester, Münchener Kammerorchester, Spanish Radio Television Symphony Orchestra, Bad Reichenhaller Philharmonie, Orchester der Schäftlarner Konzerte, Navarra Symphony Orchestra, Galician Chamber Orchestra, Xove Orchestra of the Galician Symphony , GAOS Orchestra, Vigo 430 Orchestra and Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as offering recitals at prestigious festivals in Germany.

Born in Galicia, she completed her master’s studies with the renowned professor and bassoonist Dag Jensen at the University of Munich. The scholarship recipient from the Fundació Universitària Agustí Pedro i Pons and the Alexander Humboldt Foundation received first prize in the Liceu 2010 Extraordinary Awards competition in Barcelona, accrediting her as the best in her year. She was an academic at the Bamberger Symphoniker and a member of prestigious festivals and young orchestras from the national and European scene
