Washington Barella is an internationally renowned oboist whose artistic and pedagogical career has made him one of the most distinguished musicians in his field. After studying in the United States and Germany, where he acquired both the American and European oboe traditions, he won several highly prestigious international competitions, laying the foundation for his impressive career.

For more than 24 years, Washington Barella served as the principal oboist of the renowned SWR Symphony Orchestra. In this role, he significantly influenced the orchestra’s sound and collaborated with world-famous conductors and soloists. At the same time, he performed internationally acclaimed solo concerts, regularly appearing in major concert halls and festivals around the world.

In addition to his active career as a musician, Washington Barella is a dedicated educator. As an oboe professor, he has trained generations of young musicians, many of whom now hold positions in some of the world’s leading orchestras. His innovative and inspiring approach to teaching is also reflected in his leadership of numerous international masterclasses, making him a highly sought-after teacher in Europe, Asia, North America, and South America.
