Professor at ESMUC and Hochschule für Musik de Freiburg

AIMS Academy 2026
August 5th to 15th

Anna Puig is a multifaceted musician whose career spans various areas of performance. Passionate about chamber music and the values it embodies, she combines her artistic activity with a strong commitment to teaching, working as a professor of viola and chamber music at the ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya) and the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg.

Since 2013, she has been the principal violist of Camerata Bern, and from 2008 to 2024 she was a member of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. These experiences have profoundly shaped her artistic vision, forging a musical identity grounded in active listening, interaction, and mutual respect. She has also served as principal viola of the OBC (Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya), allowing her to delve deeply into the great symphonic repertoire.

In 2022, she launched the Festival Llavors, where she serves as both artistic director and faculty member. This initiative seeks to decentralize academic activity and bring it closer to Les Borges Blanques, offering concerts and workshops that enrich the cultural life of the region.

Born in Cervera, Anna began her viola and piano studies at the conservatory in her hometown, inspired by her paternal grandfather. She later continued her training in Germany at the prestigious Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where she studied with Walter Küssner and Tabea Zimmermann, to whom she remains deeply grateful.
