Jean-Louis CAPEZZALI began his musical studies at the age of 9 with the piano. Five years later, he started the oboe with Gaston Longatte at the Conservatoire de Versailles and won the first prize and the honorary prize.

In March 1979, he obtained the National Certificate of Musical Education and was named Oboe Solo of the Lamoureux Orchestra.

Lauréat in 1982 Geneva Music Interpretation Competition and the 1986 Prague Spring Competition. In 1984, he was named principal oboe supersolist of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. In 1988 he was appointed assistant professor with Maurice Bourgue at the Conservatoire National de Paris and was promoted to the grade of professor in 1992. Appointed in 1998 as professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Lyon, he created in the same time an another oboe class at the University of Music of Lausanne in 2008.

Programmed in the major festivals such as Pau Casals, Kumo, Naantali, Seoul, Jean-Louis CAPEZZALI leads an internationally recognized solo career.

He is regularly invited to perform with Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, Toulouse Chamber Orchestra, Montpellier Orchestra, Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Japan Chamber Orchestra.

He gives Master Classes on five continents: China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Scandinavia, Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, United States of America, Italy, Spain, Australia.
