Christoph Rahn is a double bass soloist of the Symphony Orchestra of Barcelona and National of Catalonia and a professor at the Higher Conservatory of Music of the Liceu. He studied bass at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium in Munic with Professor Erwin Götz (soloist with the Philharmonic in Munic) and the Hochschule der Künste Berlin with Heinz Jablonski (soloist with the Berlin Opera). After extensive orchestral training at the Berlin Opera, he performed with the Bamberg Symphony and later with the OBC.
As a chamber musician, he has worked with soloists such as Maria Joao Pires and Christian Zacharias. He has recorded a disc «Variacions breus» with original Spanish works of double bass and piano, including one by Pedro Valls, double bass player and composer. From that recording began the gradual edition of his double bass works, trusting the family and the Clivis publishing house the rigorous edition, from the manuscripts, to Christoph Rahn.
Rahn regularly offers double bass and piano concerts, recorded by RNE, in Spain and Germany promoting these works, and in parallel prepares the edition of his second album. He has also premiered the “Grand Double Bass Concert” by Pedro Valls with the Vallès Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Edmon Colomer and played the Koussevitzky concert with Salvador Brotons and the OBC with a very good response from the public and press (“A luxury of double bass »- El País)
