The bassoonist Higinio Arrue Fortea was born in 1975 in Benaguasil (Valencia). He studied at the Benaguasil Musical Union and at the RibaRoja de Túria and Superior Conservatories of Valencia with Mr. Juan Carlos Civera and Mr. José Enguidanos. He then continued his training in Germany at the “Hochschule für Künste” in Bremen and at the “Folkwang Hochschule” in Essen with the professors Mr. David Tomás and Mr. Gustavo Núñez. He also received bassoon classes from professors Mr. Miguel Simó and Mrs. Silvia Coricelli.

He was a member of the Young National Orchestra of Spain (JONDE) and the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO).

He has collaborated with orchestras such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, ​​Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO), Stuttgart Radio Orchestra (SWR), Hamburg radio (NDR), radio of Saarbücken-Kaiserslaurten (SR), Schottish Chamber Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouworkest Amsterdam, Chamber Orchestra of Europe (COE), the Berliner Philharmoniker (Berliner Philharmoniker) and the Orquesta de la Comunitat Valenciana among many others.

In chamber music he has collaborated among others with the Daniel Hope Ensemble, the “Amsterdam Bach Solisten”, the Miró Ensemble, the wind ensemble of the“ Lucerne Festival Orchestra ”, the “London Conchord Ensemble” and is a member of the group “Die Bläsersolisten der Deutschen Kammerphilharmonie Bremen” and “Moonwinds”.

He has made numerous recordings on both CD and DVD, highlighting the Duett – Concertino by Richard Strauss for clarinet, bassoon and orchestra with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Paavo Järvi as conductor for PentaTone classics label.

Since 2000 he has been a solo bassoon of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, he was professor of bassoon at the Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco (MUSIKENE) between 2013 and 2017 and is currently a specialist professor of bassoon and a master’s degree at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (CSMA) and member of the Cadaqués Orchestra and teacher in the specialty bassoon at the “Orchesterzentrum / NRW” in Dortmund (Germany).
